Allan Cogbill Home (circa 1847)

According to Lucy Pulliam Williamson, who lived at Hancock Hall during the Civil War, this house is reputed to have been built by Alice Cotton, a granddaughter of Robert Cotton, who is listed in the earliest records of Fayette County, having arrived about 1823 from Halifax County, North Carolina. This Greek Revival style home suffered damage to the front balcony by the tornado of 1900, which is why the two balconies are of different architectural styles.
